Lyrics

Live without sin! It cannot be!
This the enormous mountain stands,
The grand impossibility,
The hindrance to our Lord’s commands!
But when the God of perfect love,
To build His Church, appears again,
Th’enormous mountain shall remove,
And sink, and flow into a plain.

By faith we see our Lord descend,
And every obstacle give place:
He comes, He comes, our sin to end,
With the omnipotence of grace!
He comes, He comes, His house to build,
He bids the inbred bar depart:
And tempted then, we cannot yield,
We cannot sin, when pure in heart.
