My soul fainteth for Thy salvation, but I hope in Thy Word.
Psalm 119:81
Words: From The Psalter (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: United Presbyterian Board of Publication, 1912), number 331.
Music: Morrison Michael Lonneke, March 2005 (public domain) (🔊 pdf nwc). This tune was written for singing the metrical psalter at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, Paris, Virginia, and is named for the rector there.
Alternate Tune:
My soul for Thy salvation faints,
But still I hope in Thee;
I long to see Thy promised help,
When Thou shalt comfort me.
Thy statutes I do not forget,
Though wasting grief I know;
Thy servant’s days are few, O Lord:
When wilt Thou judge my foe?
The proud, disdainful of Thy law,
Entrap me wrongfully;
O Thou, whose law is just and true,
Help and deliver me.
Almost consumed, yet from Thy law
I have not turned away;
In lovingkindness give me strength,
That I may still obey.
