My soul is happy when I hear,
The Savior is so nigh,
And longs to see His sign appear
Upon the opening sky.
I love to wait, and watch, and pray,
And trust His living Word,
And feel the coming of that day
No longer is deferred.
I do rejoice that life was giv’n
In these last days to me,
That deathless I may rise to Heav’n,
And my Redeemer see.
Then, waiting brethren, let us sing,
He will not tarry long,
And fill with love the hours that bring
The glory of our song.
Yes, He will come, no longer fear,
Though earth and hell assail;
His Word attests the moment near,
And that can never fail.
