Biography

Blackall at­tend­ed the Roy­al Col­lege of Mu­sic (1894–97).

He served in nu­mer­ous ca­pa­ci­ties:

• Assistant or­gan­ist, St. Anne’s, So­ho (1897–98)
• Organist, St. Ma­ry’s Col­le­gi­ate Church, War­wick (1898–1945)
• Chorus mas­ter and as­sist­ant con­duct­or, Birm­ing­ham Fes­tiv­al Chor­al Soc­ie­ty (1904–23)
• Conductor, Bir­ming­ham Bach Choir (1930–33)
• Principal, Bir­ming­ham and Mid­land In­sti­tute School of Mu­sic (1934–45)
• Music lecturer,t Bir­ming­ham Uni­ver­si­ty (1919–45)
• Sub-warden and lecturer, Col­lege of St. Ni­cho­las, Roy­al School of Church Mu­sic, Can­ter­bu­ry, 1945

One of his ma­jor com­po­si­tions was the cho­ral mu­sic for the 1906 War­wick Festival.
