Bouse’s mu­sic was in print as ear­ly as 1877.

We spe­cu­late he may be New­ton A. Bouse (born 1857, Penn­syl­van­ia, list­ed as a mu­sic in­struct­or in the 1880 cen­sus of No­ble Coun­ty, In­di­ana). No­ble Coun­ty is half way be­tween Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, where Bouse’s Take My Hand was pub­lished, and Toledo, Ohio, where the Spring Flowers Waltz was published.
