Biography

David was the son of min­is­ter and hymn writ­er David Charles (1762–1834).

David the young­er was edu­cat­ed at the Pres­by­ter­ian col­lege in Car­mar­then, and went in­to the fa­mi­ly bu­si­ness. He served as joint-sec­re­ta­ry of Tre­vec­ca Col­lege (1842–1852), was or­dained in 1851, and was mod­er­at­or of the As­so­ci­ation in the South in 1853.

• Yr Addysgydd, a month­ly ma­ga­zine, be­gin­ning in 1823, con­tain­ing ma­ny of his hymns
