Biography

Myrtle was the daugh­ter of Dr. Charles Koon.

She at­tend­ed the De­troit Train­ing School of Elo­cu­tion and Eng­lish Li­te­ra­ture. She found­ed and di­rect­ed the Grand Ra­pids School of Elo­cution (1886–90).

She was the so­cie­ty ed­it­or and mu­sic crit­ic for the Grand Ra­pids Ev­en­ing Press for 12 years, and com­posed a bo­dy of pi­ano mu­sic.
