Biography

Alexandre was the son of Lou­is Et­ti­enne Cho­ron, and hus­band of Fran­çoise We­nig­er.

Though re­mem­bered pri­ma­ri­ly as a mu­si­co­lo­gist, he stu­died ma­the­ma­tics at the Col­lège de Juil­ly, was a pro­fess­or of ma­the­ma­tics at the École Po­ly­tech­nique, and di­rect­ed the Par­is Op­era (1816–17).
