Biography

Alexandre was the son of Lou­is Ettienne Cho­ron, and hus­band of Fran­çoise We­nig­er.

Though remembered primarily as a musicologist, he studied mathematics at the Collège de Juilly, was a professor of mathematics at the École Polytechnique, and directed the Paris Opera (1816–17).
