Vernon was the son of Reverend Samuel Crowther-Beynon, rector of Beckenham, Kent, and husband of Mary Giffard (1856–1952, married Prince Edward Island, Canada).
He was educated at Wellington and Trinity College, Cambridge, and was then called to the bar.
He lived for many years in Rutland, East Midlands, where he was secretary for the Society of Antiquaries for Rutland.
He had a special interest in old coins, and served for a number of years on the Council of the British and Royal Numismatic Societies.
If you know where to get a good photo of Crowther-Beynon (head & shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels),
