Died: No­vem­ber 3, 1797, Nor­wich, Nor­folk, Eng­land.

Biography

With the help of a Mr. Hex­tall, the lo­cal dis­sent­ing min­is­ter, En­field en­tered the Da­ven­try Aca­de­my at age 17, un­der Dr. Ash­worth.

His first pas­tor­ate was with the con­gre­ga­tion at Benn’s Gar­den, Li­ver­pool, where he served 1763–70.

From 1770–85 En­field was in War­ring­ton, Che­shire, as min­is­ter to the Old Pres­by­te­ri­an con­gre­ga­tion, and as teach­er of belles-lettres and oth­er sub­jects, in the Dis­sent­ing Aca­de­my found­ed there in 1757.

After War­ring­ton, En­field moved to Nor­wich, where he spent the rest of his life and was pas­tor of the Oc­ta­gon cha­pel.
