Died: May 17, 1948, Rhosllannerchrugog (near Wrex­ham), Wales.

Biography

Evans at­tend­ed Uni­ver­si­ty Col­lege in Cardiff, Wales, and re­ceived his Doc­tor of Mu­sic de­gree from Oxford Uni­ver­si­ty.

He played the or­gan at the Jew­in Street Welsh Pres­by­ter­ian Church, Lon­don; was a pro­fess­or of mu­sic at Uni­ver­si­ty Col­lege (1903–39), and was ed­it­or of Y Cerddor.

He con­duct­ed the well known Welsh sing­ing fes­ti­vals (Cy­ma­fa Ga­nu) orig­in­at­ed by John Ro­berts, and served as judge at the Na­tion­al Eis­tedd­fod.
