Biography

Eddie was the son of Ro­bert Lar­ry Fair­cloth and Sar­ah Green, and hus­band of Hat­tie Belle Tutt.

He was a mem­ber of the Bap­tist church, and of a Ma­son­ic lodge in Dex­ter, Georg­ia. Re­mem­bered as a mu­sic teach­er, he con­duct­ed class­es in the sing­ing of sac­red songs.

His song Land of Rest was pub­lished in Law­rence­burg, Ten­nes­see, in 1915, around the time he moved from East­man, Georg­ia, to Green­ville, South Ca­ro­li­na. His song Tra­vel­ing On was pub­lished in Hu­dson, North Ca­ro­li­na, in 1930, a year be­fore his death.
