Feith was born into an aristocratic family, the only son of Pieter Feith and Elsabe Spaar.
He was educated at Harderwijk, and studied law at the University of Leiden (1769–70), where he took his degree after only one year.
He married Ockje Groeneveld in Weener, Germany, in November 1772 and settled in Zwolle. From 1773–90, they had at least 10 children.
In 1780, Feith became burgomaster of Zwolle.
Feith’s works were collected in 1824 (Rotterdam, 11 volumes), with a biographical notice by N. G. van Kampen.
