Annie was the daughter of Elon G. Johnson. She was evidently adopted by the Flint family as a young girl.
She attended school in Trenton, New Jersey, and became a teacher. She had to quit teaching after only few years when severe arthritis made her unable to walk.
Thereafter, she lived near the Clifton Springs Sanitarium, and began writing poetry. Many of her verses were published on cards, in magazines, and in book form.
