Biography

Jean was the daugh­ter of George Phi­lo Tay­lor and Han­nah M. Beck­with, and wife of John Gow­er.

She moved with her fa­mi­ly from Mi­chi­gan to Co­lo­ra­do in 1871; their ranch was on the Cache la Poudre Riv­er.

As an adult, she lived in Den­ver and wrote for the Roc­ky Mount­ain News.

She found­ed the Den­ver Dumb Friends’ League, and was first Vice-Pre­si­dent of Den­ver Wo­man’s Press Club.
