Biography

Hanks was edu­cat­ed at Bay­lor Uni­ver­si­ty, Wa­co, Tex­as (BA), and South­west­ern Bap­tist Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, Fort Worth, Tex­as (MDiv). He al­so re­ceived hon­or­ary doc­tor­ates from Ca­li­for­nia Bapt­ist Uni­ver­si­ty, Ri­ver­side, Ca­li­for­nia, and South­west Baptist Uni­ver­si­ty, Bo­li­var, Mis­sou­ri.

He worked in the ev­an­gel­ism field most of his adult life, re­ceiv­ing the Stel­la Ross award for ev­an­gel­ism, work­ing with the Billy Gra­ham Ev­an­gel­is­tic As­so­cia­tion, and found­ing the In­ter­na­tion­al Ev­an­gel­ism As­so­cia­tion of Fort Worth, Tex­as, and Op­er­a­tion Mul­ti­pli­ca­tion.
