Biography

In 1819, Har­bot­tle joined the Bap­tist Church at Tot­tle­bank (where his fa­ther was pas­tor), and short­ly af­ter­ward be­gan to preach.

In 1822, he went to live with Dr. Stead­man, pre­si­dent of the Bap­tist col­lege at Hor­ton, York­shire, and for a time was taught class­ics in that in­sti­tu­tion.

He sub­se­quent­ly be­came pas­tor at Ac­cring­ton, Lan­ca­shire, and in 1841 tu­tor at a small Bap­tist col­lege in Ac­cring­ton.

He con­tin­ued to pas­tor in Ac­cring­ton and near­by Os­wald­twis­tle un­til his death.
