Died: August 7, 1942, Burbank, California. He died during a concert at the Covenant Church in Burbank, while playing the piano and singing Horatius Bonar’s The Old Story, with music by Philip Phillips.
Buried: Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, California.
Hultman’s family emigrated to America in 1869, settling in Illinois.
At age 16, he became a preacher, and from 1906 on, worked as a Christian singer in Sweden and America. He was called the Sunshine singer.
In all, he wrote music for some 500 hymns.
