Biography

Andrew was the son of An­drew Skoog and Ma­rie Er­ick­son, and hus­band of Au­gus­ta C. De­land­er. He used a mid­dle in­i­tial, but had no mid­dle name.

His fa­mi­ly emi­grat­ed to Am­er­ica in 1869. Af­ter a few years, they moved to Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, where he was a church mu­sic di­rect­or and taught in a pa­ro­chi­al school.

From 1891–96, Skoog was on the Min­ne­ap­olis ci­ty coun­cil. He served as or­gan­ist, choir di­rect­or, and Sun­day School su­per­in­ten­dent at the Swed­ish Ta­ber­na­cle in Min­ne­ap­olis (1886–1916).

Works

He ed­it­ed and pub­lished Veck­o­blad­et, a Swed­ish lang­uage pa­per, ed­it­ed sev­en hym­nals, including The Co­ve­nant Hym­nal, and wrote over 300 hymns and an­thems. His oth­er works in­clude:
