Born: April 12, 1838, Birmingham, England.
Son of a civil engineer, Jackson joined a Baptist church in 1856, and in 1859 became a Baptist minister.
In that capacity he served in Liverpool; Billesdon and Castle Donington, Leicestershire; Ripley, Surrey; and Louth, Lincolnshire. As an occasional lecturer, he was widely popular.
His hymns were composed chiefly for Sunday School anniversaries. Three were introduced into the 1879 Baptist Hymnal, and seven into the School Hymnal (London: E. Marlborough, 1880).
