Biography

Son of a ci­vil en­gin­eer, Jack­son joined a Bap­tist church in 1856, and in 1859 be­came a Bap­tist min­is­ter.

In that ca­pa­ci­ty he served in Li­ver­pool; Bil­les­don and Cas­tle Don­ing­ton, Lei­ces­ters­hire; Rip­ley, Sur­rey; and Louth, Lin­coln­shire. As an oc­ca­sion­al lec­tur­er, he was wide­ly po­pu­lar.

His hymns were com­posed chief­ly for Sun­day School an­ni­ver­sa­ries. Three were in­tro­duced in­to the 1879 Bap­tist Hym­nal, and se­ven in­to the School Hym­nal (Lon­don: E. Marl­bo­rough, 1880).
