Jekyll was a chorister at Westminster Abbey, and later organist at St. Paul’s temporary church in Kensington, 1857; assistant organist at Westminster Abbey (1860–75); Acton Parish Church (1860); St. George’s, Hanover Square (1861–77); organist and composer to the Chapels Royal, St. James’ Palace and Whitehall (1876–91).
He also received Queen Victoria’s Jubilee Medal.
