Biography

Henry was the son of Sam­uel Hall King and Eli­za Shaw, and hus­band of Su­san Ell­en Fogg.

He was edu­cat­ed at Bow­doin Col­lege, Bruns­wick, Maine (BA 1859, AM 1862) and the New­ton Theo­lo­gic­al In­sti­tu­tion (DD 1877).

He was or­dained a Bap­tist min­is­ter in 1862, and taught He­brew at the New­ton Theo­lo­gic­al In­sti­tu­tion (1862–63).

He served pa­stor­ates at the Dud­ley Street Church, Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts (1863–82); Ema­nu­el Church, Al­ba­ny, New York (1882–91); and First Bap­tist Church, Pro­vi­dence, Rhode Is­land (1891–1906).
