Biography

Anna was the daugh­ter of Ben­ja­min Mun­son and Ma­ry Lawr­ence Sam­bell. She did not mar­ry.

She taught school in the pub­lic schools of Brook­lyn, New York, for 50 years, re­tir­ing in 1931.

She oft­en vis­it­ed Ocean Grove, New Jer­sey, where she was in­volved with the Wo­men’s Chris­tian Tem­per­ance Un­ion.

Works

In the last 20 years of her life, Mun­son be­gan writ­ing po­et­ry. Her ef­forts were well re­ceived, and she got con­gra­tu­la­to­ry let­ters from Am­eri­can pre­si­dents Roo­se­velt, Wil­son, Hard­ing, Cool­idge and Hoo­ver.
