Meyers was the son of Frederic Myers and Susan Harriet Marshall, and husband of Eveleen Tennant.
A classicist and poet, he was educated at Cheltenham College, Gloucestershire, and Trinity College, Cambridge.
Myers was a Fellow and College Lecturer at Trinity College (1865–69), Inspector of Schools (1862–1901), and a charter member of the Society for Physical Research.
