Biography

Ebenezer was the son of Con­gre­ga­tion­al min­is­ter Hen­ry Oakley.

He stu­died arts at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Glas­gow; theo­lo­gy at Aire­dale Col­lege, Brad­ford; and took his MA at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Al­la­ha­bad, In­dia.

As of 1906, he was serv­ing the Lon­don Mis­sion­ary So­cie­ty at Al­mo­ra, in north­ern In­dia, and was Prin­ci­pal of Ram­say Col­lege there

His son Aus­tin be­came an arch­deacon with the Church of Eng­land in Cos­ta Ri­ca.
