Jason was the son of Albert Francis Pierce and Rebecca Noble, and husband of Mary Gertrude Fairchield (married 1904).
He was educated at Amherst College, Massachusetts (BA 1902), and Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (BD 1906).
He was ordained a Congregational minister in 1906, and served many pastorates, including:
Pierce was also on the staff of preachers at Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, and other colleges.
He was a member of Chi Phi and Delta Sigma Rho fraternities, and served as an army chaplain in World War I.
