Biography

John was the son of Aar­on and Jane Ro­berts. He is oft­en con­fused with an­oth­er Welsh mu­si­cian of the same name, John Ro­berts (1822–1877).

Works

Some of Ro­berts’ hymn tunes were pub­lished in Peroriaeth Hyfryd, by John Par­ry of Ches­ter, 1837. Oth­ers ap­peared in Ro­berts’ Ca­nia­dau y Cyssegr (Hymns of the Sanc­tu­ary) (Den­bigh, Wales: 1839), and still oth­ers in a post­hu­mous Me­mo­ri­am, pub­lished by his sons.
