Introduction

Kent is the son of Ed­ward George Schnei­der and Al­ice Jane Mont­go­me­ry.

He was edu­cat­ed at North Cen­tral Col­lege, Na­per­ville, Il­li­nois (ba­che­lor’s de­gree, 1966) and Chi­ca­go Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry (Mas­ter of Di­vi­ni­ty, cum laude, 1969).

In 1970, he was or­dained a min­is­ter in the Unit­ed Church of Christ.

He re­ceived a grant from the Eli­jah Lil­ly Foun­da­tion in 1973.
