Biography

George was the son of Wes­ley­an Me­thod­ist min­is­ter Ad­am Jo­seph Shea and Maude Ma­ry Theo­do­ra Whit­ney, He mar­ried twice, to Er­ma L. Scharfe (June 16, 1934) and Kar­lene Ace­to (December 19, 1985).

He be­gan his sing­ing ca­reer in the choir at his fa­ther’s church, and in the Hough­ton, New York, Col­lege Glee Club. He was long as­so­ci­at­ed with the Bil­ly Gra­ham ev­an­gel­ism or­ga­ni­za­tion.
