Biography

Eben was the son of Eb­en­ezer S. Tour­jée and An­gel­ine D. Ball, and fa­ther of hymn writ­er Liz­zie Es­ta­brook. He mar­ried twice: to Ab­bie In­gra­ham Tu­ell (1855) and Sar­ah Lee Tour­jée (1871).

He found­ed the New Eng­land Con­ser­va­tory of Mu­sic in Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts.
