Born: August 15, 1768, Dinkelsbühl, Germany.
Died: September 3, 1854, Augsburg, Germany, of cholera.
Buried: Originally in the cemetery for clerics of the Augsburg Cathedral. When the cemetery closed, the clerics’ coffins were transferred to the new cemetery by Friedhofskirche St. Michael on Hermannstraße in Augsburg. The site was heavily damaged in World War II, though, and the location of Schmid’s grave was lost. Today, St Michael’s Cemetery has a commemorative plaque in von Schmid’s honor.
In 1807, von Schmid was a teacher and prebendary in Thannhausen, Bavaria.
By 1827, he was serving at the cathedral in Augsburg.
