Carl was the son of Franz Anton von Weber.
He was hampered by a congenital hip problem that gave him a permanent limp.
He began music lessons with his father at age three. He also had lessons from Michael Haydn, and began publishing his own fughettas at age 10. As he matured, he began writing operas, and touring as a pianist in Germany.
