Biography

Lucy was the wife of Shad­rach Wash­ing­ton.

She gra­du­at­ed from the Clo­ver Street Se­mi­na­ry, Ro­ches­ter, New York, in 1856.

Many of her po­ems and hymns were pub­lished in a vol­ume ti­tled Ech­oes of Song.

In ad­di­tion to hymn writ­ing, she was a lec­tur­er and or­gan­iz­er for the Io­wa Wo­men’s Chris­tian Tem­per­ance Un­ion in the 1880s.
