Biography

Emily was the daughter of John Devine and Sarah Ann Lees, and wife of Methodist minister John G. Wilson. Her father was from Ireland, and her mother and husband from England. Note: Some sources give her father’s name as Divine, but his tombstone clearly shows Devine.

Her husband was District Superintendent of the Methodist Philadelphia Conference, and pastor of the Wharton Memorial Methodist Church in Philadelphia.

The couple had no children, and John died in 1933. In 1935 and 1940, Emily was living in the Methodist Episcopal Home for the Aged in Philadelphia.
