Lyrics

The distant skies are beaming
With twinkling stars so bright
That by their dazzling gleaming
Now fades the silent night;
And angels clad with glory
Descend upon the earth
To tell the sacred story
Of Jesus’ wondrous birth.

The Christmas tree is blazing
Its greetings through the night;
And happy folks are gazing
With visions in their sight;
And children’s eyes are streaming
With tears of radiant joy;
And every heart is dreaming
Of love without alloy.

Thy sweet and hallowed story,
O precious Christmas-tide,
Thy holy bliss and glory,
May evermore abide!
No richer joy is given,
No purer peace on earth
Than which comes from Heaven
By Jesus’ wondrous birth.
