The cares of the day oft perplex us,
The pathway we tread oft seems bare;
The sun seems to shine but for others,
There seems to be no one to care;
But someone is watching our footsteps,
He’s guiding us o’er the dark way;
His love, like the glorious sunshine,
Will drive all the shadows away.
That life which the sun never brightened,
With misery and pain everywhere,
May reach out in faith and may find Him
Who waits every sorrow to share.
He holds out His hands pierced and wounded,
He knows of the burden each day;
He’ll take all the thorns from our pathway,
And drive all the shadows away.
There’s no one can help us like Jesus,
No burden’s too heavy for Him;
He wants every life filled with sunshine;
With light that shall never grow dim.
And daily He’s watching our footsteps,
And leading us all the lone way;
We’ll trust in His dear loving kindness,
To drive all the shadows away.
