Lyrics

Tho’ some leaves have a tear,
And the cover shows wear,
Yet my Bible is precious to me;
For it tells how in love Jesus came from above,
That from sin I might ever be free.

Refrain

My old Bible tells me what is right,
My old Bible cheers me day and night,
My old Bible is a shining ray,
For it guides me all along life’s way.

Refrain

For this Book is a guide, whatsoever betide,
For it brightens and lightens my way;
The old story so true, always seems to be new
As I read in my Bible each day.

Refrain

Then I will not despair, tho’ I have grief and care,
For I know that each promise is mine;
This old Book, like a friend, will be true to the end,
For I know that God’s Book is divine.
