The pro­mise has been giv­en
That our Lord will come again,
And earth will bloom with beau­ty
When with an­gels He ap­pears;
Then He o’er sin will tri­umph,
And no death, no grief nor pain
Shall be in His do­min­ion
While He reigns one thou­sand years.

One thou­sand years of glad­ness,
One thou­sand years of peace,
Shall come when Je­sus reigns on earth
And bids all strife to cease;
One thou­sand years of bless­ing,
One thou­sand years of love,
Will make this world re­splen­dent
With glo­ry from above.

Then Sa­tan shall be bound with chains
And in the pit be thrown,
Where, held a cap­tive he no more
The na­tions can de­ceive;
While those who have been true to Christ
And suf­fer­ing for Him known,
The re­sur­rect­ion call shall hear
And all their graves shall leave.
