Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high?
Psalm 113:5
Words: George Sandys (1576–1643).
Music: Ray, in The Sabbath Hymn and Tune Book (New York & Boston, Massachusetts: Mason Brothers & J. E. Tilton, 1859), page 26 (🔊 pdf nwc).
Thou who dwell’st enthroned above!
Thou, in whom we live and move!
Thou, who art most great, most high!
God from all eternity.
O how sweet, how excellent,
’Tis when tongue and heart consent,
Grateful hearts, and joyful tongues,
Hymning Thee in tuneful songs!
When the morning paints the skies,
When the stars of evening rise,
We Thy praises shall record,
Sovereign Ruler, mighty Lord!
Decks the spring with flowers the field?
Harvest rich doth autumn yield?
Giver of all good below!
Lord, from Thee these blessings flow.
Sovereign Ruler! mighty Lord!
We Thy praises will record:
Giver of these blessings! we
Pour the grateful song to Thee.
