Lyrics

Soon will the Bridegroom come to take us home;
Shall we be ready when our Lord shall come?
Shall we be watching, waiting in that hour,
And be translated by God’s mighty pow’r?

Refrain

Waiting, waiting for the Lord;
Watching, trusting in His word;
Keeping, every blest command,
Holding to God’s unchanging hand.

O will He find you ready for that day?
Say, have your sin-stains all been washed away?
Have you been conquered by the Spirit’s pow’r,
Sealed for His coming any day or hour?

Refrain

What if this day our Lord should come again?
Would you be filled with sorrow, grief and pain?
Or would you lift your voice in joyful song?
This is our Lord for whom we’ve waited long.

Refrain

Soon we shall hear the mighty trumpet sound,
Waking the righteous dead the world around;
Translated saints will join the glad refrain,
Loved ones long parted then shall meet again.

Refrain

I will be ready by the pow’r of grace;
Soon I shall see my Savior face to face;
Then ’twill be sweet to hear Him say, Well done,
A crown of life eternal you have won.
