Helen was the daughter of Richard B. Cadbury and Emma Jane Wilson, and wife of Charles Alexander (married 1904), song leader for evangelist Reuben A. Torrey. Charles died in 1920, and she married Amzi C. Dixon in 1924.
Helen was an heir to the Cadbury chocolate fortune.
She attended university and studied music and language in Germany. In 1893, she founded what would become the Pocket Testament League.
