Introduction

Comenius was the son of Mar­tin Ko­men­ský and An­na Chme­lo­vá. His par­ents be­longed to the Mo­ra­vi­an Breth­ren.

He is re­mem­bered as a phi­lo­so­pher, pe­da­gogue and theo­lo­gian, and served as the last bi­shop of the Mo­ra­vi­ans’ Un­ity of the Breth­ren.
