Biography

Educated at Har­vard Col­lege (1838–42), Da­vis was a law­yer by pro­fes­sion. He was a mem­ber of the Mas­sa­chu­setts Se­nate (1858 & 1859) and the Mas­sa­chu­setts His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety; pre­si­dent of the Ply­mouth So­ci­ety; pre­si­dent of the Ply­mouth Bay Uni­ta­ri­an Con­fer­ence; and vice-pre­si­dent of the Am­eri­can Uni­ta­ri­an As­so­cia­tion.
