Biography

Duhlin was the son of a Salvation Army (SA) officer. Music ran in the family: His younger brother was composer Sparre Olsen.

Alfred emigrated to America in 1916, and became an SA music leader in Chicago, Illinois.

Haakon Dahlstrøm’s book Ord i Samklang says it has been difficult to find out anything about Duhlin’s death. He spent his last years at an SA home for seniors in New York. Dahlstrøm speculates Duhlin died outside the home without identification papers, and was buried in an unidentified grave.
