Biography

Frederick was the son of Charles Hos­mer and Su­san Car­ter.

He gra­du­at­ed from Har­vard Uni­ver­si­ty and Har­vard Di­vi­ni­ty School, and be­came a Uni­ta­ri­an min­is­ter.

He served in North­bo­ro, Mas­sa­chu­setts; Quin­cy, Il­li­nois; St. Lou­is, Mis­sou­ri; and Ber­ke­ley, Ca­li­for­nia.

He was a re­cog­nized au­tho­ri­ty on hym­no­dy, and taught the sub­ject at Har­va­rd Di­vi­ni­ty School.
