Sarah was the daughter of minister Jonathan Livermore and Elizabeth Kidder, and aunt of hymnist Abiel Livermore.
One biography stated she was a teacher for many years, and wrote many pieces of fugitive poetry and prose.
Sarah had a deep interest in religious teaching, and organized one of the first Sunday schools in America.
