Biography

A con­duc­tor, com­pos­er, ar­ran­ger, and pub­lish­er of re­li­gious mu­sic, Mon­ta­ni stu­died in Am­eri­ca, and in Rome, It­aly, un­der Lo­ren­zo Pe­ro­si, Fil­ip­po Ca­poc­ci, Dom Mocque­riau, and Dom En­dine.

He found­ed the St. Gre­go­ry Guild and the So­ci­ety of St. Gre­go­ry, and was a Knight Com­man­der of St. Syl­ves­ter.

He was mu­sic di­rect­or at St. John the Ev­an­gel­ist Church in Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia (1923–24), and at St. Paul’s Church, New York Ci­ty (1925).
