Biography

Copyright re­cords show Olm­stead in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, in 1914.

In 1921, he be­came Mis­sion­ary Sec­re­ta­ry for the Chi­na In­land Mis­sion of the Me­tho­dist Church. From 1923–24, he and his wife Min­nie made a world­wide trip on be­half of the church, vi­sit­ing hos­pi­tals, schools, le­per co­lo­nies, and con­gre­ga­tions across Ja­pan, Chi­na, In­dia and south­ern Af­ri­ca.

Olmstead al­so served on the com­mis­sion that pro­duced the Free Me­tho­dist Hym­nal (Wi­no­na Lake, In­di­ana: Free Me­tho­dist Pub­lish­ing House, 1910).
