Biography

Charles was the son of Ash­er Min­er Ray and Me­lis­sa P. Gray, and hus­band of Ju­lia Tra­cy Shef­field.

He was edu­cat­ed at Ha­mil­ton Col­lege, Clin­ton, New York, and earned his Doc­tor of Di­vi­ni­ty from Mo­non­ga­he­la Col­lege, Jef­fer­son, Penn­syl­van­ia (school closed in 1894).

A Bap­tist min­is­ter, he served in North Ston­ing­ton, Con­nec­ti­cut, for a num­ber of years. His last pas­tor­ate was in Ply­mouth, New York.

Copyright re­cords show him liv­ing in Ches­ter, Penn­syl­van­ia, in 1899.
