Biography

Rosenmüller at­tend­ed both the La­tein­schule in Oels­nitz, and the Uni­ver­si­ty of Leip­zig, where he stu­died theo­lo­gy.

Also in Leip­zig, he taught mu­sic at the Tho­mas­schule. He be­came the or­gan­ist at the Ni­ko­lai­kirche in 1651.

By 1658, he had moved to Ven­ice, It­aly, where he com­posed and played the trum­pet at San Mar­co.

He spent the wan­ing years of his ca­reer as Ka­pell­meis­ter to the court at Wol­fen­büt­tel.
